Production Begins at Speira’s Rheinwerk Plant Expansion Project
Speira recently announced the commissioning of a new beverage can recycling furnace at its Rheinwerk plant in Neuss, Germany, marking the official start of operations for the expanded facility. Speira invested approximately €40 million in the project, which included constructing a new furnace with an annual capacity of around 60,000 tonnes, upgrading the third of four recycling alloy casting lines, and adding storage space for 6,500 tonnes of used cans at the primary aluminum smelter site. Additionally, the facility is equipped with spacious scrap receiving and sampling areas. The new furnace is also "hydrogen-ready," meaning it can be put into operation as soon as the Rheinwerk plant connects to the hydrogen pipeline network.
