Indonesia's August Aluminum Exports Surge 30.7% Month-on-Month, Surpassing 150,000 Tonnes
Data released by Statistics Indonesia on Monday shows that the country's aluminum exports surged 30.7% month-on-month in August to over 150,000 tonnes, with more than half destined for Western markets. The figures indicate that total exports of primary aluminum and unwrought aluminum alloys reached 157,880 tonnes in August—more than triple the volume recorded during the same period last year. With production in the Middle East disrupted by conflict, Indonesia is increasingly emerging as a key new source of supply. Trade data monitoring agencies report that the total aluminum export volume for August was the highest since November 2023. Of the August total, approximately 60,000 tonnes were sold to the United States, while around 17,000 tonnes went to Italy and nearly 13,000 tonnes were shipped to Montenegro. Indonesia's total aluminum exports for the first eight months of 2026 reached 699,432 tonnes.
