South Korea's Aluminum Foil Imports Hit Five-Year High in First Seven Months

According to a report on October 5, South Korea's aluminum foil market entered a period of stronger activity, with import volumes reaching a five-year high. In the first seven months of 2026, South Korea imported 57,261.18 tonnes of aluminum foil globally, a 23.94% increase from the 46,201.68 tonnes imported during the same period in 2025. China supplied 52,751.81 tonnes—up 25.32% year-on-year—raising its market share in South Korea from 91.11% to 92.12%. While South Korea's total aluminum foil imports rose by 11,059.50 tonnes during this period, supplies from China alone accounted for an increase of 10,658.40 tonnes.
