Indonesian President Launches 11 Downstream Projects and Presides Over First Export Shipment at IWIP
On October 8, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto visited Central Halmahera in North Maluku Province to launch downstream projects with a total value of US$10.2 billion (approximately IDR 180 trillion) at PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP). The initiative encompasses 11 downstream projects—including the commercialization of four industrial projects and the commencement of construction on seven new ones—and featured ceremonies for the unveiling of an electric vehicle battery project and the inaugural export shipment of processed mineral products. The initial exports include nickel-processed Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP); battery raw materials—specifically Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) and Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP)—from PT REPT Batero Indonesia; electrolytic aluminum from PT Pioneer Aluminium Industries; and heavy machinery components based on new and renewable energy technologies from PT XCMG Indonesia Manufacturing. Projects for which groundbreaking ceremonies were held include those by PT Guang Ching Nickel Cobalt, PT Inno Prima Material, PT Tinci Materials Indonesia, and PT Weda Bay Aluminium.
